Sisonke...

 We all have our struggles!

Mine, in particular, is depression. I've been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and have suffered a few mental breakdowns over the years that almost took me out.

I see my life as being a miracle; the fact that I'm still here and giving my all daily is an indication of grace, hope and the relentless gift of perseverance that resides in every single human being. We are made for such a great purpose and I, for one, refuse to exit this world without leaving a mark and without fulfilling my destiny.

If you're feeling like you're alone in your struggle, know that you are not! Sibaningi esilwa namadimoni afuna ukusigwinya (there are many of us who are fighting demons that threaten to consume us). Reach out to a trusted friend, call a help line, join a support group, write, paint, make music, meditate; whatever you do, just don't give up!

Whether it's an illness, a heartbreak, a temporary setback, a chronic condition that you have to live with, nothing is bigger than your innate ability to overcome. It's a God-given gift! We are tenacious and fierce, we are gods on earth and nothing can defeat you except YOU! Refuse to give up on yourself! You have so much to live for, so much to offer, so much to BE...

I write this to let someone know that they are not alone. The darkness will pass, as it always does. And the latter will be greater. Dare to believe in yourself, dare to believe in your divinity, dare to be more than your wildest dreams.

Love yourself practically, see yourself through the eyes of your Maker and choose to live for a better tomorrow, because it will certainly come.

You are worthy of love, of care, of wellness and hope. You are not alone! Sisonke! :)

Me and my sister after I was hospitalised for depression in 2019 (this was one of the good days).
